Lifestyle changes may cut risk for type II diabetes.

"Making just one key lifestyle change can cut your chances of developing type II diabetes by roughly 1/3, suggests a new government study that collected data on more than 200,000 adults." Recently, "researchers from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) looked at how five specific lifestyle factors affected diabetes risk. They found that indi...vidually, each factor could lower your odds by about 30%; the combination of all five may reduce risk by about 80% -- even if you have a family history of diabetes." The factors include losing weight, getting more exercise, eating whole grains and high-fiber foods, not smoking, and moderating alcohol consumption
