Report recommends standing 2 to 4 hours of each work day

Workers should stand at least two hours and up to four hours of the work day to prevent the negative effects of prolonged sitting, according to a report in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. The report recommended changing posture and moving around to reduce pain and fatigue and suggested employers warn staff about the health risks of being sedentary and invest in creating work environments that encourage workers to be more active.
