Military studies acknowledge that combat soldiers are carrying too much weight-often more than 100 pounds-contributing to the chronic pain epidemic that Ret. Brig. Gen. Becky Halstead talked about at NCLC. These loads have also contributed to soaring numbers of injuries, and higher costs in disability payments.
