Low Back Pain Not Uncommon Among US Children, Study Says
A study in JAMA Pediatrics found that the prevalence of musculoskeletal low back pain increased from nearly 1% at age 7 and 6% at age 10 to 18% at ages 14 to 16, with sports participation, previous back injury, body growth and family history of low back pain as risk factors. The findings, based on an analysis of previous studies, also showed girls had a higher risk for low back pain than boys.
