Study: No difference in sciatica pain between steroids, placebo

A study of 269 people with sciatica found although prednisone offered a slight improvement in daily function, there was no difference in pain between the prednisone group and the group taking a placebo. The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, also slowed side effects were twice as common among the steroid group after three weeks.
