Your Waistline and Your Life Line
One's waistline and lifespan are directly related, a number of studies show. For a man of average height, a waistline of more than 40 inches equals a higher-than-average risk for a heart attack and diabetes. Women enter the same danger zone at 35 inches plus. Why? Wider abdomens tend to mean more internal fat, which puts pressure on the organs, impedes their functioning and generally causes damage to the system.
