This issue of Spine highlights the need for greater participation in the care of lower-back pain by doctors of chiropractic. The study measured the cost of lower-back pain to society in patients with lower-back pain versus patients without lower-back pain. The study found that patients with lower-back pain experienced more comorbidities and economic burdens compared with patients without lower-back pain. This economic burden can be attributed to greater prescribing of pain-related medications and increased health resource utilization. ~ACA See more here - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22146287
